Who We Are

We are a group of qualified yoga teachers, student teachers, retired teachers, and foundation course students in the North Cumbria area.

The NLYG membership is open to ALL yoga disciplines.

 

Aims of the Group

The main aim is to enable peer support, sharing of knowledge, experience and networking within the group. This is done by meeting 4 times a year to share a practical yoga session and an opportunity to talk to each other.  Our website can advertise your yoga classes, other yoga related events within Cumbria and information about our membership.

 

Participation

We meet 4 times a year usually at NEWBIGGIN VILLAGE HALL, NR STAINTON, CUMBRIA, CA11 0HT (however, please check each event in case of change of venue).  Meetings are usually scheduled in Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer.    Autumn, Winter and Spring meeting dates have a practice session guided by a teacher within the group, followed by a shared lunch with the chance to converse with each other and any topics for discussion can be brought up.  See NLYG Events for more details of events.

 

The Summer meeting  is different – a special event – an Open Day – where we invite a prominent national teacher.     On this day members can invite their enthusiastic students to attend, see NLYG  Events for details.

 

Organisation

The NLY Group was originally founded in September 2005 by Gina Farncombe and Linda Allam.

 

The organisation is run on a volunteer basis with organisers handing on their responsibilities every 2 years to another group member. The current organisation team  for 2011 – 2012 are Jackie Oliver-Watts,  Susan Neal and Linda Allam.

NLYG Members can update their own class listings at any time using a member password - instructions on how to do that – please contact Linda.  As Website Master,  Linda will edit all other web pages, i.e. What’s On.   See contact information for details.

Charitable Donations

The NLYG is a non-profit organisation and donates to charities each year. 

In 2011, £100 was donated to Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland.
